Essential Rules for Inmate Visitation at St. Genevieve County Jail

Failure to follow the rules will result in the visitation being denied, ending early, or in the visitor being banned from visitation temporarily or permanently.

  • Visitors on parole or probation are not allowed to visit an inmate under no circumstances.
  • Visitors with an active warrant will be prohibited from visiting an inmate. If the warrant is within the Ste. Genevieve County jurisdiction, the visitor will be arrested. If not, the visitor will be turned away.
  • Any visitor over the age of 16 will be required to submit a government-issued photo ID. Those who do not produce an ID or submit one that has been altered will not be allowed admittance.
  • Anyone under the age of 18 should be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Failure to supervise children will result in the visitation being abruptly ended.
  • Do NOT bring any personal property into the visitation area. Diaper bags, handbags, cell phones, and other personal belongings must be secured in the visitor’s personal vehicle. If any visitors are discovered with contraband, they will be asked to leave immediately and could be prosecuted.
  • Visitors to the jail must be dressed appropriately at all times, including wearing full clothing and shoes. Do not wear see-through or provocative clothing, short shorts, dresses, skirts, or other sexually suggestive clothing. Failure to follow the dress code will result in the visitor being asked to leave.
  • No property passes will be conducted on visitation days without a property release form being filled out before the visit. To conduct a property transfer, visitors must arrive one hour early for visitation or stay one hour later.
  • Paperwork will NOT be passed to an inmate for any reason. If you must send paperwork to an inmate, you must follow the mail rules, which will be listed below.
  • All visits are no-contact. Contact visits are not allowed for security reasons.
