Antonio Taylor is the man charged with shooting Ballwin, Mo police officer Mike Flamion. According to a recent article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, if prosecutors have their way, Taylor’s bail may soon double to 1 Million Dollars. This is the same high bail amount that was recently ordered in a case involving the rape of a homeless person.
In the article written by Joel Currier, Currier reports “St. Louis County assistant prosecutor Jason Denney will argue that bail for Antonio Taylor, 31, on charges of first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon should be increased.”
The article goes on to report that in a court filing done by assistant prosecutor Jason Denney, Denney said “Flamion's “injuries are indicative of the danger the defendant poses to the victim and the community and should be considered by the court.” If Taylor makes bond, this would be one of the highest bail bonds St. Louis Mo has seen in quite a while
It’s reported that Taylor has a long criminal history and served around 3 years time in Oklahoma for robbery. After his prison stint for robbery he was later sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for a conviction of being a felon in possession of a gun.
It would be hard to argue that a man such as Antonio Taylor is not a dangerous individual. He should probably never see the light of day again, and there is a good chance that he won’t. The sad part is, it seems as of late there will just be another Antonio Taylor waiting to shoot another law enforcement officer.
This sentiment seems to be illustrated by the shooting of two San Diego police officers only days ago. In this shooting, one police officer was fatally shot, and another wounded. While you can read the entire article about the shooting here, as reported by NBC news, it does appear that a suspect has been taken into custody.
The article reports “San Diego police on Friday took into custody a second person after a police officer was fatally shot and another officer was wounded in gunfire that erupted following a stop the night before.Police identified a man arrested earlier, Jesse Michael Gomez, 52, and said he was responsible for the killing of Officer Jonathan DeGuzman and the wounding of Officer Wade Irwin.”
According to the article the investigation is ongoing and there may be at least one other individual involved. The officers were members of the gang suppression unit, and currently there was no evidence to suggest the officers were specifically targeted.
In today’s world where there seems to be a great division amongst American when it comes to law enforcement. While most Americans support law enforcement, those who do not seem to have become more vocal in recent months.
It is being reported that country music stars Florida Georgia Line have recently told law enforcement to “stay away.” The article published in bearing arms says “We were on the grounds the entire event covering the camp sites, festival grounds and also (backstage),” Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth told FOX411 Country “I was informed the (Florida Georgia Line) spokesperson had made the request prior to the concert that no law enforcement be backstage while they were on the grounds.”
In a bit of irony the article goes on to report “Sheriff Graver says he was told the country duo even threatened to pull the plug on the concert if they saw any cops.
Graver said halfway through their performance, he was told the band wanted him to provide a police escort out of town following their performance. Sheriff Graver informed them he wouldn’t spend “one tax dollar assisting them.
He also added that although the band’s management had scrambled for other law enforcement agencies to provide the escort … everyone gave them the same kiss off, and the band (and their officer-hating entourage) left the venue and town with their tails between their legs – sans escort.”
While it appears that band duo is back peddling and professing their love and respect for law enforcement, others are clearly non supporters of law enforcement. Law enforcement is the only line of defense between an orderly society and anarchy. Whether you support law enforcement or you happen to be on the other side, law enforcement officers should still be respected. As the description implies, law enforcement officers enforce the law, they do not make it.
